The Institute of English Language Studies (IELS) is a part of the international group of language centers LAL (Language and Leisure). It is the largest and one of the oldest language schools in Malta — in 2015 it turned 30 years old. IELS is located in the central seaside town of Sliema, an excellent location for exploring Malta and the entire Mediterranean. The school is located close to the main attractions of Malta: 20 minutes drive from the capital of Valletta, 10 minutes from St. Julian's with its vibrant nightlife, 30 minutes from medieval Mdina and near residences and hotels where students live. Promenade, cafes, shops, bank, pharmacy and beaches are within walking distance of the IELS building, located on a quiet street near the promenade. IELS Malta School is a modern training centre with many amenities: air-conditioned rooms, newly equipped classrooms, bookshop, Wi-Fi, cafeteria, library and vending machines with drinks and snacks. $ The school offers numerous English language programs and special courses for students over 40 years of age. In addition, IELS is Malta's only language school, which is a DELTA and CELTA teacher training centre and an open Cambridge Test Centre, which guarantees high level of academic standards. English is taught at all levels. The school has a policy of communication exclusively in English (except for beginners). The teaching staff regularly undergo recertification and attend additional courses on teaching methods. The training is conducted in small classes (up to 12 people) for a better individual approach to each student. Clings take place in the morning or afternoon. After the classes, the student is offered a cultural and entertainment program, which includes excursions to the cities of Malta, parties, beach activities and diving lessons (for a fee).
