Foreign students can stay now for 2 years after graduation in England
The “hostile environment”, established from the filing of Theresa May in 2012, was replaced by “warming” in relation to foreign students. Until September 2019, graduates who came to study in England were forced to leave the country four months after receiving a diploma. This has led to a significant reduction in the number of applicants for education in the UK.
The current government, led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has announced plans to reintroduce a work visa after studying for international students. The new rules will come into force for students starting to study at the undergraduate or higher level from 2020. A visa gives foreign students the right to live and work in the UK for two years after graduation. Oxford International CEO, Lil Bremermann-Richard said "This is the news we have all been waiting and lobbying for! Really incredible news for international students because it will provide them with the opportunity to apply the learning they receive at school and University to the workplace. It will also benefit the entire UK international education sector. Post-study work visas will make the UK an even more attractive place to study for ambitious international students."
In 2018, about 460 thousand foreign students were trained at English universities, if you do not take into account those who lived in the European Union. The British authorities plan to increase this figure to 600 thousand over the next 10 years.
