As human activity transforms the planet, environmentalists play a vital role in monitoring, understanding and stopping environmental degradation to preserve species and ecosystems. During the training you will learn what determines the existence and abundance of different species, how they interact with each other and their environment, how they respond to the threats of climate change, excessive exploitation and destruction of the habitat. $ This fascinating course covers many aspects of biology from a unique perspective. You will explore the mechanisms and functions of ecosystems and the interdependence of organisms within them. You will also apply your knowledge outside the lab with a unique opportunity to fly to North Yorkshire, Spain and South Africa. The first year covers a wide range of topics, including biodiversity, evolution, environmental issues and genetics, as well as additional modules such as the creation of sustainable futures in schools of geography and Earth and the environment. $ Also that you will travel to Scotland to conduct your first field course that the university offers. In the second year, you will specialize in basic environmental and conservation biology issues, including the ecology of population and communities, animal behavior and evolution. You will also have the opportunity to hone your skills during a residential field course in the Mediterranean environment in southern Spain or on an optional course in the Yorkshire valleys. Additional modules include animal pests and sustainable food production. The basis of the 3rd year is an independent research, literary or computer project that you will create under the guidance of a leading researcher. Along with this, you will work with leading experts in advanced thematic modules such as Ecology and Conservation Science to develop your research methods, knowledge and skills. You will also have the opportunity to make an additional trip to South Africa.
